Stéphane Lauzon, one smoker at a time.
My name is Stéphane Lauzon. I weld offset smokers in my shop in Plaisance, in the Outaouais region of Quebec. One at a time, by hand.
It started simple. I welded a first smoker for a buddy, he showed it to his buddies, and the phone hasn't stopped since. These days I do this full time out of my shop in Plaisance.
I work alone, on purpose. I want to see every bead go down, pick every plate of steel myself, and actually know the answer when you call me because the gauge looks a bit high. I'd rather ship one smoker a month than ten sloppy ones.
Plaisance is central for Quebec and Ontario, so when a smoker is ready, I load it on the trailer and drive it out myself. And if it ever breaks down, I get in the truck. That's the deal.
Things I won't do
- Farm out the welding. Every bead is mine.
- Run two builds at once. One at a time, from start to finish.
- Disappear after delivery. If something breaks, I get in the truck.
